What is Fractional Engineering?

“Fractional IT Engineering” means that our engineers work closely with your staff and get familiar with your environment, so that we can act as a part of your team whenever you need our specialized knowledge. However, you only pay for the time you need — some of our clients only need us for a few hours a month! We aren’t a staffing company, and these aren’t full-time or even part-time positions. Fractional Engineering allows your team to have engineers with specialized IT skills on-demand to escalate issues to, or to participate in the design and architecture of IT services.

We help you lay all the groundwork for your next IT project. We can help you design your solutions, select vendors for your hardware, manage the project, and make sure you and your IT staff understand what you’re building. With GroundWork0, we’ll make sure you understand your project and the technology behind it before, during, and after the implementation.

GroundWork0 first came into existence more than 20 years ago to help companies design, monitor, and maintain networks and network equipment. The breadth of technology that we cover may have expanded, but we haven’t lost sight of our roots. At the core of any engagement with GroundWork0 is our on-site and remote monitoring of all your key infrastructure. This usually begins with extensive documentation of your servers, applications, and network devices. From there, we build an on-premise monitoring and alerting system to inform your IT staff – as well as GroundWork0 resources – if anything in your environment is misbehaving. In some instances with an unexpected outage, you may find that we call you before you call on us.

We can bundle a pool of Fractional Engineering Services hours with our Network Monitoring & Maintenance Service, to give customers quick access to our engineers for planning changes to their network architecture.
